22% of mobile owners used their device during the Super Bowl to watch a TV ad again, while 17% searched for more information about a product they saw advertised, according to a February 2012 survey from InMobi. Users performed a number of other activities directly related to the game or commercials, including downloading a Super Bowl application (27%), discussing the game (23%), and discussing commercials (16%).

The 2011 update of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Marketing Researchโs longitudinal study on social media marketing usage among the Inc. 500โthe 500 fastest-growing private companiesโindicates they are continuing to increase their usage of some social media tools, while pulling back from others.
Facebook usage was up in 2011, along with usage of Twitter and foursquare. The study also examined several services and techniques for the first time, some of which already have high usage. Free Vs. Paid Apps In The Android Marketplace [CHART]
Analysis of the Android Market App Store from September 2010 to December 2011 further demonstrates the reliance on the free app model. According to AndroLib, in September 2010 roughly 65% of all Android Market apps were downloaded for free; in December 2011 nearly 69% of mobile apps were downloaded for free.
