Paul Allen, the self proclaimed “Google+ unofficial statistician,” has pinned the Google+ user base at 62 million as of December 27th. Allen also has some staggering estimation for the continued growth of Google+. The estimate for Google+ users at the current growth rate is 293 million users by the end of 2012, but Allen is bullish on these numbers. He estimates the acceleration will continue and predicts Google+ will end 2012 with over 400+ million users. Read the rest at Marketing Land.

54% of consumers say they may leave a website or not return when presented with registration requirements, while a further 6% say they will leave or avoid the site, according to [download page] a survey released in January 2012 by Janrain. 26% of consumers will go to a different site, if possible, representing a 53% jump from 17% of respondents who responded the same way the previous year. Similarly, the proportion saying they will complete registration dropped 44% from 25% to 14%.
In fact, 90% of consumers say they have left a website when they forgot their login information, rather than recovering that information. A similar proportion say they have given incomplete or incorrect information when creating a new account at a website. Read the rest at Marketing Charts.
Corporate Social Media Accounts [CHART]
Enterprise-level companies of over 1000 employees now average 178 corporate-owned social media accounts, according to a survey released in January 2012 by Jeremiah Owyang of the Altimeter Group. The average enterprise company owns the most accounts on Twitter (39), followed by blogs (32), Facebook (30), and LinkedIn (29). Companies were also found to have an average of 23.4 forum, message board, or community accounts, and also held multiple YouTube (9.4), Foursquare (6.3), and Flickr (3.8) accounts.
